Turkoman Horse Archers

Continuing  on with my Impetus 15mm Ayyubid Muslim army for the Crusades in the form of Turcoman Horse Archers which are a main stay of the army of the period. Their lightning swift hit and run tactics were a constant thorn in the side of Crusaders until they got their own to counter it!
The figures are once again from the fantastic Legio Heroica range and paint up very nicely indeed. I'm really enjoying myself with the army as it gives quite a bit of opportunity to explore colour although painting horses regardless of scale is always a challenge!
Colours are mostly Foundry with some Vallejo.

    Love the vivid colours. Well done!
    Watching your output, this coming weekend I'm determinded (after a short Tactica hiatus) to pick up the brush again. And here's hope I'll come up with something in the vein of your Ayyubids.

    How was painting these figures? Is the detail well defined on the figures, or do you need to free hand a lot of the paint work? I've always worked with 28mm, but excellent pics like these are making me consider 15mm also.

    I find painting them very enjoyable and the detail is excellent on the figures.
    You don't get as much detail in 15mm, but they manage quite a bit and your production rate is much quicker then 28mm.
