What a commander really does most of the time


Ever seen a model and knew you had to have it? well this was one of those times. I just really like the look of it as one can see what a commander is often really doing and not always charging with sword drawn down the glory road(which I like too). It's probably my favourite ECW figure and comes from Redoubt.

I was very excited when it came in the mail......until I saw all the clean up on it which was nasty indeed! However. after that was finished I was quite pleased with how he turned out.

For now he will be the commander for my Irish Brigade, but I'm not sure if he will remain so as I have the actual figure for that. Good chance he will as I like miniature so much.

    They really need to do one dismounted with the map spread across the backs of two soldiers kneeling on all fours to form a 'table'.

    Not that that one isn't very nicely done. Does he get extra command abilities if the table layout actually matches the map you painted?

    Oh gosh yes. That is a superb
    figure. I like how you have done the horse as well as the Officer. I will have to study your pics to see how I can improve my horse painting somewhat.

    Quite an impressive bit of work there. I like the green and buff colors, and the plume is great!

    I'd heard a bit that there were issues with Redoubt's figures. How bad of a cleanup are we talking about? Was it just a lot of flash to remove, or did you have to rebuild pieces of the figure?

      Thanks a lot!

      Redoubt miniatures are a hit and miss as some of their figures are not so hot, but others are fantastic like their Indians and ACW. You never know until you get the miniature how good they are, but generally speaking I like them very much.

      Clean up is the same thing with some very easy and others bringing very colourful words shouting from ones mouth!

      Clean up on this one was pretty darn rough with me having to drill a hole in the back legs to get some separation.
