Arsenal Miniatures

I'm giving a special plug to this up and coming company by Andrea Magnani called Arsenal Miniatures.He is starting up a range around a period not well covered in the wargames market.It centers around The Spanish Hapsburgs and Ottoman Turkish Empire struggle for supremacy in the Mediterranean in the early to mid 1600's.
The models are being freelanced designed by the esteemed Paul Hicks and look absolutely fantastic and the talented Tom Weiss has begun painting the miniatures for advertisement.Stewart Griffin of Griffin Moulds is doing the casting.This combination is producing a mouth watering line.
I'm looking forward to the release of the range as I plan on diving in.

Feeling a bit Savage

Hello Everyone,
I decided to add another aspect of my painting to my blog with some Fantasy material.I prefer historical nowadays,but I used to do quite a bit of fantasy awhile ago.I still like to paint fantasy miniatures from time to time as you can really let your imagination go.(I need the outlet LoL!)I'll add fantasy pictures from time to time for variety.I hope some of you enjoy them.:-)
First up is some Savage Orc boar boyz I did many years ago,but they still give me a smile when I look at them.These are old school Savage Orc boar boyz and I like them quite a lot as in my opinion they really have some character about them.I see them flying down the plain screaming their heads off and somehow managing not to fall off in the process!

Discoveries

Just looking at some blogs in different languages and you can find some real gems.Some of the work coming out of Spain,Italy etc. is amazing!I don't speak any of these,although I do speak German in addition to my native English.
Anyways,my point is you should check out the work coming out of different countries then just English speaking blogs.
You will notice I follow blogs in some languages other then just English.I may not understand the text,but I can see the pics.Take a look for yourself and you will understand why.Enjoy!

4 Wheeled Ammo Cart

This is a 4 wheeled ammo cart being driven by some field workers somewhere in North Carolina 1781.I always wanted to do this model and I had quite some fun with it.This will also feature in my demo game,and also is a continuation for my Guilford Courthouse theme.

Panzers!

I've had these reinforcements finished for a little while for my German Panzerkompanie,but just haven't got around to posting them.The pictures came out a bit darker then I would have liked,but the tanks are painted pretty dark anyways.Unlike the figures,I like my vehicles to look beat up as if they have seen quite a lot of combat.Again,I didn't use an airbrush and choose to use a dry brush and blending style to achieve my look.

First two are a Sd Kfz 9 Recovery vehicle and Kfz Field car.I didn't add much battle damage to these guys as I viewed them more in the support role and not on the front lines.



Next three we have Sd Kfz 7/1 Armored anti-air support.These guys are essential to protecting your Panzers as allied air can punish you remorsefully if you don't.I really like the look of the quad barrels on these vehicles with the mounted crew.



The Last seven are panzer IV's and were the most difficult to paint and assemble.The shurzen skirts are real pain to put on,but really look great when finished.They also allow you some freedom to really do your own conversion work.
Next up for the panzerkompanie will be......Panthers!

The painting lair

I told BIGREDBAT I would post a picture of my painting closet.As you can see,it's a complete disaster area and pretty much always is.

I have a hobby room in my basement where my models are on shelves along with terrain,building material and my tables.
The painting closet came about because my wife said if we don't have a painting area in the living room,then she won't see me anymore!This master stroke was her idea and it's great!It has shelves for reference material,built in daylight lamp and an extra lamp,paints,small supplies and some models not yet built.I can paint and glance at the the TV when something catches my interest or just listen as well.
The real great thing about it is the doors as I can start and stop my painting as I wish and simply close the doors hiding my mess which keeps my wife happy and my little daughter out.

P.S.I quit smoking about 3 1/2 years ago,but the cans come in very handy.The one in the picture actually holds basing grass!:-)
