Ok folks now we are on to the tough guys in my army. The elite troops known as Gedriht which is a mix of the warlords family, household guards and professional warriors who have the best equipment in the army. These figures like all my Saxons up to now are from the superb Musketeer miniatures range. These guys are what attracted me into collecting Early Saxons in the first place and once I saw them I knew I would have to have them as they looked hard as rocks and frankly quite fearsome. The shields are LBM with a liberal dash of MIG pigments to get that worn and used effect.
I'm starting to see the end of the tunnel for my starting Saxon army for Dux B. without needing to do any proxies. Just another unit of Gedriht and re-basing some archers then the finish line. Of course I'll end up adding more, but I'll have achieved my first goal which is something rare for me.

Brilliant minis and basing, as usual. Congrats on the tablet. I've been thinking about one myself to limit my computer time (I work at one all day). You'll have to post a review after you've spent some time with it.

So far, I'm very happy with the tablet as I'm not a computer junkie so I'm not looking for tons of apps which seem to be it's weak point, but rather a place where I can comfortably view pdf's in particular wargames magazines which it does excellent job and I order most my books from Amazon which it also does a superb job in providing a book format. The screen is great and very easy to use as well.

Between the iPad and play station I've virtually abandoned the home office PC, which is a relief after sitting at a computer all day at work. Recommend it.

Another outstanding clump of warriors. The contrasting band of trim on the cape and tunic really adds visual appeal. What products are you using for your vegetation? Your combination of materials creates a sense of thick tundra.

ReplyDeleteSomehow missed which kind of sabot bases you use? I really like the effect of minis crowded together on one side, gives a nice feel of movement to a unit. Perhaps the alignment could be less regular – or is that down to the photo?
Anyhow, well done, looking forward to your next AAR.

Thank you very much SG! The sabot bases are from warbases and if I could do it again I would have staggered the slots a little bit,but I didn't request that. Our next game should be in January.

Christopher, a quick question. What do you use to attach the spears to your figures. I have North star metal spears. Can't seem to keep them attached with super glue.
