Le Regiment de Royal- Roussillon

Up now is my 2nd FIW/SYW French regiment Le Regiment de Royal-Roussillon for my wargames project with Mike.

The figures are from Redoubt and the Flags are the lovely GMB designs. My opinion on the figures are mixed in that I like the troopers, but the command is not as good . The clean up on these was also pretty awful as I had to cut and file a lot which is my least favourite part of the hobby. I'm not sure why this is the case as Redoubts Indians and ACW I own (and like very much indeed) don't seem to have too much flash. That said, what I do like about these figures quite a bit is the posing which I think really looks the part.

Thanks for viewing!:-)

  6. White uniforms are always tricky. These are splendid. Good shading and crisp work on all the details. Museum quality stuff. Nice job.

  15. A beautiful looking unit, and I love the kneeling pose too, you don't often see that in 25mm.

  18. Hi Chris

Very nice work painting indeed but as frenchie loving history and mostly Seven Years War in Europe and French Indian war in Canada,French regiments had two flags one called "ordonnance" with colors and one "colonel" only white .

    Sorry to disturb you

    1. Thank you Alain. According to my sources the colonel's white flag remained in Europe with the HQ and did not travel with the detached battalions to the new world. If you have information that contradicts this I would be interested to read this. GMB designs who are the makers of the flags above seem to have the same information as I do and sell their FIW French Flags with no colonel's flag, but include them with those fighting on the European mainland. If you can prove your opinion I'll be sure to notify GMB designs.
