Samurai charging again, but now with scenary

Working on lighting and background and thought I'd show it using the Samurai from my previous post. Photography is always the area I'm most unsure of myself. What looks better a white background or scenery background? White background helps show detail, but scenery shows more colour.
Do you think I should in the future:

1. Keep the white background.

2. Go with scenery backgrounds.

3. Mix it up with both white and scenery backgrounds.

Thanks for viewing and your help.:-)

  2. 2. Go with scenery backgrounds.

The white background looks a little stark now in comparison to these photos.

  4. Personally I prefer the scenary background. Having said that I think there would be times that a single colour background would be good for showing the figure's detail. So maybe a bit of a mix may well be the way to go.

  5. White is too bright.. I rather like blue, grey or black.

However, it´s nice to see a couple of pics with scenery, so you can make an idea of how AWESOME will they look on the table... BTW, I still hate you. >:-)

  6. Beautiful painting!!!! I do like the white backround best as I think it shows off more of the colour on the figures, but I do like the scenery background as well. I think you should mix it up every now and then!

  7. Agree with ray, mix it up please. I normally use white backgrounds, but I don't have a table permanently set up!

  8. Thank you for the support and the valuable input everyone!

I'm inclined to mix it up with white backgrounds to show detail for those wanting to see that and terrain backgrounds to show how it looks on the tabletop and to get the cinematic look. A little more work doing both perhaps, but probably worth it and will do so if time permitting.

  13. Stunning work Christoper! Great painting and basing yet again.
Inspiring stuff, I'll wait with mine though untill there is some sort of cool SAGA skirmish ruleset or something. Now go and paint the other 10 bases, we are waiting...
    Cheers, Michael

  14. Thanks guys again for the comments and feedback!!:-)

    @MiniMike

Try Killer Katanas as I believe that's Samurai skirmish.
I'm not big skirmish player except periods only fought that way(WWII, SCW etc.)
Looking forward to seeing what you do when you do it.

    Cheers

  15. Christopher, the painting's stunning and the basing is sublime. I hardly think that the backdrop really matters!! But, speaking personally, I'd be happy with you mixing and matching backgrounds whenever you feel like it!
