Caballeros

Here is my next unit for my El Cid project that's due for an event in September. A unit of Christian Caballeros(includes both nobles and common knights).
Once again AP with highlights added afterwards. All shields and banners are completely hand painted. Like the Caballeros Hidalgos I modelled on some following robes to really emphasize their Spanish/Moorish background and mixed in Moorish figures to take it a step further.
These Caballeros use the over arm attacking technique and therefore are more suited for exploiting gaps in enemy lines unlike the Caballeros Hidalgos which use force of direct assault to break enemy lines. To reflect this I kept the unit standard a small banner in keeping with their need for quick assaults when a gap opens.
I also included the Crusader El Cid figure that I painted up as a bishop to give the unit some inspiration. He of course is the one with a cross on his shield.
Thank you for viewing.

  10. Thank you guys I appreciate the support!!

    @Doc

    Hopefully your friend finds it useful as my army does have a Andalusian mix to it if perhaps not quite so colorful and minus the Arabic writings and banners.

  15. Hi Chris,
    These guys look very good and I really wonder how you manage to paint such a lot of figures in such a brilliant way in such a short time. Your output is enormous.
    100 points. :)

  17. Seen it only recently, very cool stuff. Medieval Spain is such a colourful place, perfect for some painting and gaming goodness.

    Good luck with the rest of your army!

  18. Another cracking unit. Well done. I see a lot of good units done with the dip lately so I will investigate this for my next project as it can save time I presume. You think this will work over blue, white and red (Early french naps)?
    Cheers,
    Michael

  19. Thank you folks!:-)

    @Michael

    It does save time no doubt, but since I add a couple layers of highlights it still takes time.

    I've seen many dipped French and the results vary from very nice to quite poor. If you brush on the dip to avoid pooling and perhaps add a few highlights you will achieve some nice results.

    One word of caution if you want your whites clean then you will need to completely repaint that, however it works well with creams and off whites.

    Cheers
    Christopher
