Researching and updated blog with some new gadgets
Hi everyone, just letting you know the reason for a pause in regular posting (excuse list that is).Currently I'm doing some research for a painting project where I'm trying to work out the best colour options and method of application(zombie flesh and blood) . Also,I will try an alternative painting technique on just a few miniatures to see how it goes (full painting with no black lining). Surprisingly, the research consumed more time then I thought. In addition,I've been painting up a few miniatures for a friend.
Soon, regular posting will resume with some AWI, Chaos in Cairo and Zombie material followed by more El Cid.
I've added a few more gadgets to my blog.
Blog list-For some reason of an mental brain drop I failed to add a list of the blogs I follow and this has now been corrected. I went with 10 showing to keep it user friendly, but you can just hit list all button to see all of them. The listing shown will always be by the latest updates. When viewing the complete blog list you can see it's quite a hefty amount, but I really do enjoy reading and viewing what other's are doing. :-)
Top 10 member-I thought this would be a nice way of me giving recognition to readers who currently read my blog the most. Please don't worry if your not in there as I won't feel slighted in the least as it's just a fun gadget for interest and not to be taken overly serious. Gadjets are fun after all! :-) Also, you have to sign in to get on the listing and this allows for persons still wanting to view my blog anonymously or unrecorded to continue to do so.When signing in just use the normal account you use for the blogging and you won't double follow, but even if you do it's not important, but just passing on the tip.
Popular Posts- Thought I'd throw that in there for those curious to see what folks are viewing the most on my blog.
Thanks for reading!
But you won't tell us what you are researching? You're mean! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Doc,
ReplyDeleteI've never really painted much zombies before and so I've been looking up various ways of painting dead flesh and blood which I have little experience.I've painted quite a bit of Nurgle living decaying flesh, but that's different in my opinion as it looks not quite the same.I'll also be using a different paint range.
In regards to painting techniques I was going to try a few miniatures fully painted, but no black lining to try for a more flowing effect with smoother transitions from colour to colour.I understand I'll lose some "pop",but hopefully gain line flow which I'm curious to see if I'll like it.
Wasn't trying to be secretive, just writing to fast and making assumptions.Thank you for pointing it out.I'll edit it in. :-)
Cheers
Christopher
Hi Christopher,
ReplyDeleteInterested to hear how you get on with your Zombie cool tests.
Cheers

Oh, the Zeds... I have been thinking a lot about how I would paint zeds or mummies as well lately. Although mummies should be slightly "drier", the skin tones could be quite similar. I bought a Masquerade Miniatures comic-y looking mummy and I might experiment on that at some point.
ReplyDeleteWell, very much looking forward to your results. Andrew Taylor's zeds are a nice inspiration I find, but maybe you should consider finding a painting technique that is good looking but also slightly faster. You can never have enough zeds on a table unfortunately. I would think washes and glazes could be the way forward. But that's probably not what you are looking for. Well, I'll stop rambling. Looking forward to your zeds, is my point boiled down. :D
By all means keep rambling Doc!I'm always open to suggestions.:-)
ReplyDeleteI will use a very limited amount of washes, but most will be the normal paint and blend method.
Also, I updated my blog to show the blogs I follow as for some dumb reason I forgot to add the gadget.
Cheers
Christopher
Looking forward to the zombies.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting man, looking forward

I was going to suggest talking to my mate the angry lurker, but I see he's already posted here, he's got loads of Zed's and uses all different painting techniques. I like the who's visited the most item, it's nice to see just who's visiting your site, keep up the good work!!
